Season Schedule

Season Opener Meeting

August 26, 2023 @ 1:00pm

Fern Bowl Lanes - 5518 Bardstown Rd
Louisville, KY. 40291

Welcome to a new season with the Fern Creek High School Bowling Tigers! With each new season, we welcome in new bowlers, their parents, and families. With this in mind, we have scheduled our season opener meeting. This is your opportunity to meet the coaches, learn more about the program, what a typical season looks like, and what the expectations of each member of the team will be. Some important things to note about the sport of bowling and bowling at Fern Creek:

  • Scholarship Opportunities – The various organizations affiliated with bowling offer multiple scholarship opportunities for college bound youth. Furthermore, due to Title IX requirements, many NCAA schools are turning to the minor female sports teams to bolster their female academic enrollment. While bowling as a youth, there are opportunities to earn scholarship funds in a program called SMART (Scholarship Management and Account Reporting for Tenpins).
  • Anyone can do it! – Bowling can be enjoyed by all age groups and genders regardless of physical or mental ability. Fern Creek is proud to have a unified program, and even boasts last years Unified Champion.
  • It doesn’t matter if you have ever bowled before, or how good you are! – We have coached students with zero experience in bowling to competition level bowlers. The game is quite easy to pick up, but only with practice (which we do plenty of) can it be mastered.
  • You don’t need to buy or pay anything! – We are perfectly happy to provide all the equipment necessary to play the sport, and we pay for the practice time on the lanes, tournaments, transportation, etc. either out of our fundraising funds or through volunteers.

Who can bowl for Fern Creek?

  • Fern Creek High School students ANY GRADE LEVEL!
  • 7th and 8th Grade students that are Fern Creek High School RESIDES (Could be Ramsey, Newburg, Carrithers, St. Gabriel) We are happy to have 6th Students practice with us, but they will not be eligible to compete until 7th grade. It doesn’t matter if Fern Creek is your choice school… We would love to have you, and teach you the game!

Fern Creek needs You!

  • Females - Since the pandemic, we have been unable to field a Female Bowling Team. We find that females in particular are the most hesitant to try out the sport. We do not hold tryouts, and we have males and females at a beginner level. Bring a friend and try it out together. We are a winter sport, so if you are a softball, lacrosse, soccer or volleyball player, bowling can give you a winter sport to keep you active during your off season. We cooperate fully with other team sports.
  • Males – We have a young, talented group of male bowlers coming back this year, but we need to bring in the next generation of talent. No tryouts are necessary! Come find out more.
  • Unified Bowlers – For the first time in years, we are unaware of any incoming or returning unified bowlers. If you know, are friends or family of a unified bowler, or someone who is interested in becoming a unified bowler for Fern Creek, please pass this on! Fern Creek has a rich heritage of unified bowling, and we need new talent this year.
  • The Tigers are part of Region 3 of the KHSAA, along with the following schools that have bowling teams. Bullitt Central, Bullitt East, Butler, Central, DeSales, Doss, Fairdale, Fern Creek, Holy Cross (Louisville), Jeffersontown, Mercy, Moore, North Bullitt, Pleasure Ridge Park, Southern, Valley, Whitefield Academy
